Don’t Rob Them of the Decision

This is a tip we learned as soccer parents but it also applies to basketball. We all think we know when a child should pass, drive, shoot or dribble, but if we’re constantly yelling these instructions to our child two things happen. One, it may be in direct contrast with what the coach has instructed them to do in that situation, and Two, it robs them of making a good decision. A player who is constantly waiting to be told what they should do will never achieve the skill level to make quick decisions on their own.
